I went to Fredericks for a birthday lunch and ordered the three course lunch menu plus wine. The food was appalling. The Duck egg salad was unappetising and mean, comprising one hardboiled egg with runny insides, on a bed of cress, with one gherkin sliced into a star, with a dollop of mayonnaise.

My seafood crepe was small, burnt, with bits of indistinguishable fish and tiny shrimps and no sauce. The Shepherds pie was as good as you get in a pub and the plum crumble was no better than off the shelf in a supermarket.

I'm not going back to Fredericks, ever, despite the attractive setting.

Fredericks is a great setting, it is particularly pleasant to sit outside on warm evening. Fredericks is seriously overpriced for competent but by no means outstanding cooking.

Fredericks is a gem. The staff are really friendly, the food is fab, and you're not rushed, which is great if you fancy a night of chatting to your friends over wonderful food. The price at Fredericks is also not as bad as I feared. I wish I'd discovered this place years ago.

We went to Fredericks for a birthday celebration and had an excellent time. The menu is very creative and the wine list offers an excellent selection. All our food was cooked to perfection and the service was one of the best I have ever experienced. Our waiter was extremely friendly, helpful and knowledgable. All this combined with the beautiful conservatory and seating area outside makes it Fredericks my favourite place in Islington.

We had a very enjoyable evening at Fredericks. We had a party of 8 people and all agreed that the food was delicious and the service was good. The bill was very reasonable. Worked out to be £65.00 per head for a 3 course meal and wine. A revisit to Fredericks is on the cards!

Don't bother. Fredericks has rubbish service and poor food. We booked a table for 6 at 5.45pm for the pre theatre menu and turned up at 5.35pm, to be told that the restaurant was not yet open.

So fine, we waited at the Fredericks bar and ordered drinks. At 6pm after other dinners had been seated we asked about our table and still had to wait until 10 past. Not acceptable when they knew we had to leave by 7.15pm.

The table was missing items, service was slow. One of the three main courses on the set menu was omlette (and very average at that)! Don't bother with Fredericks, plenty of other places to go.

My boss has just been to Fredericks for lunch with a business associate. For the two of them it cost a whopping £109.00 for two courses, coffee and a bottle of wine!

An uninspiring bottle of Reisling came in at £29.00 and a portion of buttered carrots cost £3.00. He said the food at Fredericks was good but seriously overpriced for what it was!

I arrived at Fredericks with my party of 12 colleagues for a celebratory business dinner on a wet and miserable evening and was delighted with my choice.

The venue was smart but yet relaxed, the service was attentive and friendly and the food was superb. I can only recommend that you give Fredericks a go!!
